There was jubilation at Matunda Salvation Army Mixed Day Secondary School in Likuyani Sub County after Dillan Achesa scored a mean grade of A with 81 points in the released results of the 2021 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education(KCSE) examinations.
According to Achesa, he was surprised to be named among the best performers nationally and the best in Likuyani Sub County.
“I thank God for his guidance in my academics. Also my parents have been supportive and always paid school fees on time. The teachers also played their role by being hard on me and ensuring that I complete my assignments on time. Above all, I always set aside time to pray and for group discussion to remind myself key points I might have forgotten,” noted Achesa.
Achesa aspires to study medicine and surgery in order to achieve his neurosurgeon dreams.
The school Principal Mary Luvanda attributed the sterling performance to cooperation from all education stakeholders and determination by teachers and the candidates.
“I thank God for the results. I also appreciate teachers, parents, board of management and the education for their teamwork and commitment to ensure we get quality results. I am optimistic we will produce more quality grades and I am very proud of the results. It’s a day school with very little resources and God has made us be ranked among the best,” said Mrs. Luvanda adding that Achesa was ranked position six nationally and fourth in Kakamega County.
According to Achesa’s mother Mary Mburu, described his son as prayerful and obedient child who was always keen on his studies.
Another candidate from the same school, Revelation Lukulu who scored A- was overjoyed after posting good results.
