Lugari Deputy County Commissioner Moses Gicharu has warned over 1,500 squatters who were settled on forest land in Mautuma central, Lugari Sub County to be wary of fraudsters soliciting money pretending to help them get title deeds.
According to the DCC, the government has not de-gazetted Mautuma land to pave way for the issuance of title deeds as purported by some people.
Gicharu has maintained that anyone claiming to be enlisting people to get title deeds is a conman and should be reported to government security agencies.
He regretted that a number of unsuspecting people had lost hard earned money to the hands of land fraudsters who are still on loose in highly organized land fraud syndicate.
The DCC noted that Mautuma Settlement Scheme is part of gazzetted government forest and claims of degazettement are not true.
Gicharu reminded the people that his office was open within working hours to handle issues related to land.
The DCC warned that anyone involved in the unlawfully soliciting of funds from the public will not be tolerated.
He said that the government security organs were investigating land fraud syndicates in the Sub-County saying legal action will be taken to those found guilty.
