Two MCAs have tumbled in the Busia Ford Kenya primaries, which they claimed were not free and fair. Bukhayo North/Walatsi MCA in Nambale Sub County Gardy Jakaa who defected from ODM was beaten by newcomer David Wayne. Jakaa got 400 votes compared to his opponent’s 702.
Marachi North MCA in Butula Gabriel Okello was shown scant respect by Anthony Omwitsa who beat him by a 38 vote margin. Okello got 1060 votes with Omwitsa scooping 1098.
Jakaa blamed the election officials for the confusion that marked the polls, adding that he will be in the ballot with or without Ford Kenya.
Okello also blamed his defeat on malpractices that preceded the polls. “I will seek people’s mandate as an independent candidate,” he said.
The women representative contest was a close affair with Pauline Nagila from Bunyala defeating former Busia County Executive Committee Member for Education Azida Ali by 34,000 votes to 9,000.
MCAs who are defending their seats on a Ford Kenya ticket from Busia County and who received direct nominations included Patrick Ombo (Amukura Central), Maurice Chetambe (Angurai North), Dick Omukaga (Amukura East), Fredrick Musirimba ( Bunyala South) and Margaret Chale.
