MCAs who ditched ANC and Ford Kenya parties for ODM in Kakamega County have been floored in the nominations that were held on Tuesday, 13th April in the County.
Kholera ward MCA in Matungu constituency, Godliver Omondi who is serving as a first term MCA, elected on ANC ticket in 2017 and former nominated Senator lost in the party primaries.
Mumias Central ward MCA in Mumias West constituency, Charles Odanga who won the ward seat on ANC ticket in 2017 was too floored by Ali Okomba
Sinoko ward MCA Antony Wabuke who ditched Ford Kenya to ODM too lost in the primaries.
Other ODM MCAs who vied on the ticket in 2017 but lost in the nomination are; Zaid Shaaban Oteng’o (East Wanga), Lystone Ambundo (Butsotso Central), Dickson Ombayo (Nzoia ward)
ODM MCAs who won the nomination include, Bonface Osanga (Khalaba) and Geofrey Ondiro (Marenyo Shianda) survived though he ditched ANC and joined ODM.
In Busia County, nine sitting MCAs lost in the ODM nomination polls including Leader of Majority Hon.Kassaman Ekesa that were held on Monday 11th, April, 2022
Those who lost during the nomination exercise are; Eric Kaibe (Kingandole), Linus Asiba (Matayos South), Mwajuma Toloi (Nambale Township), John Oganga (Marachi West), John Obwogo (Nangina), Kassaman Ekesa(Bukhayo Central), Laban Mukhwana (Bukhayo East, Job Oteba (Angurai East), Moses Ouma ( Amukura Central) and Beatrice Kanoti (Bwiri).
Kassaman lost to Silas Musumba. Kaibe lost to Don Bosco Ouma, Toloi was beaten by Geoffrey Egesa Odongo, Oganga was defeated by Gomba Sewe, Obwogo lost to Johnson Bwire Makabwa, Mukhwana lost to Eunice Wandera Wesonga, Oteba was beaten by Saleh Chemaswet while Ouma lost to Patrick Ombo.
ODM MCAs who survived include; Grace Olita ( Angurai South), Abiud Ochilang’ole (Amukura West), Vincent Olumbe (Namboboto/Nambuku), Julius Etyang (Chakol North) and David Kokonya (Malaba South) who were unopposed, and James Ong’ole who won the primaries, beating his sole challenger, George Awino, the proprietor of Busia Border Training School.
If the MCAs who lost in the primaries have a complain, they have until April 22 for the dispute to be resolved by the party.
Alternatively, they have until Monday, 2nd May 2022 to submit to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) a clearance certificate from the ORPP confirming that he/she is not a member of any registered political party at Anniversary Towers 21st floor between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
They are also supposed to present to the Commission symbols they intend to use in the election on or before Monday, 2nd May, 2022.

UDA nominations will be conducted on Thursday, 14th April in 35 counties.
