More than 2,500 residents of Marakusi sub location and neighboring
villages in Lugari sub county have benefited from a three day free medical camp sponsored by Redeemed Evangelistic Fellowship under its national leader, Bishop
Mathews Monde.
Briefing the press on sidelines of the event at Marakusi primary
school, Bishop Monde said medical doctors from Kenyatta
National Hospital (KNH) in collaboration with local health
practitioners conducted the free medical clinic, where the residents
were examined and treated on a variety of diseases.

The cleric said area residents were invited to the medical exercise,
regardless of their social standing and economic statuses. “This is purely part of the church’s social corporate responsibility whose main objective is to improve the living standards of Lugari residents,” said Monde, who cautioned local leaders against
politicizing the event or any other development projects meant to
assist members of the public.
“Clerics world over are happy to preach the word of God to healthy
and energetic faithful,” he noted. Reiterating the church’s agenda on health services to the locals, Monde revealed Redeemed Evangelistic Fellowship’ ambitious plan to
construct a maternity wing as well as donation of drugs and medical
equipment at the local Marakusi Dispensary, “alongside other
infrastructural projects to be disclosed soon,” added the cleric.
The cleric, who was born in the area, thanked the national government
for allowing the church to sponsor ongoing construction of five houses
for administration police officers at Marakusi post.
“Besides health issues, the church is also concerned with public
security, thus our involvement in the ongoing construction of the
houses,” Monde told West Media.
The Bishop, who also heads Redeemed Evangelistic Fellowship in
Democratic Republic of Congo, dismissed as rumors claims going rounds in the grassroots that he was strategically preparing to join area elective politics.
Monde instead appealed to the leaders to join hands with the church
and other stakeholders in efforts to improve economic, political and
social welfares of the locals.
Officer in charge of Marakusi dispensary Miss Sylvia Kidake and
Marakusi sub location assistant chief Mrs. Edith Ayodi Khakali thanked
Bishop Monde for his philanthropic gesture.
