A sorrowful mood has engulfed Chekalini village in Lugari Sub County after the body of a middle aged man was found dumped in the dormant Chekalini cattle dip.
The unidentified body was discovered by a young man who was grazing animals near the dip on Wednesday afternoon.
“I was grazing animals here and decided to rest under the shed before I discovered strange object in the water, on looking at it keenly I discovered it was a human head. I called an old man who was working on a neighboring farm who came and confirmed it was a human body before he raised an alarm and informed the police,” explained Mr. Elvis Lidava.
Confirming the incident, Koromaiti sub location assistant Ms. Wilkister Muyoka said the body had visible injuries indicating the man was killed by unknown assailants and his body dumped in the cattle dip at night.
The local administrator has appealed to anyone who might have lost his or her male family member to come out and help in identifying the body.
She said there is no report of a missing person from her area of administration and the man might have been dragged from far and dumped there.
Residents want the cattle dip demolished arguing this was the third body to be removed from the dormant facility.
Officers from Lumakanda police station removed the body and took it to Webuye mortuary for postmortem as they launched investigations into the incident.
