The Bungoma County government has launched a Kshs 3.4 million water drilling project at Nabuyole FYM Primary School, to improve water accessibility to Mihuu ward residents. Speaking to residents, teachers and pupils at the Nabuyole school ground during the commissioning o the project, Mihuu MCA Violet Makhanu said the project is meant to benefit the schools in the locality and the residents, adding that waterborne diseases will be tamed and the water provided will be well treated and well maintained.

She said the school was chosen as the ideal project location because according to expert opinion, it’s a suitable water tapping area and has sufficient security. The Mihuu MCA also revealed that her office will allocate money to purchase water tanks. She said so far, Mihuu ward has set up 16 water wells and 2 more are set to be constructed courtesy of the Bungoma County government., and soon the water challenges facing residents will be phased out.
The Mihuu ward administrator Samson Nabutola who accompanied the MCA urged the residents to support the contractor and be vigilant to ensure he does a good work. The school management led by the school’s headteacher Alice Fuchaka lauded the County government for setting up the project and assured residents that they’ll always be allowed to access the water in the school, as they are custodians of the same.
