Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions on one of Raila’s manifesto of doing away with importation of mitumba clothes within the first 100 days incase he wins the August 9th elections.
Raila had promised to revive the local industries which will be a major source of employment to most youth but most Kenyans have dismissed the idea saying that Kenyan products are usually expensive.
They have said that this will cause untold suffering if at all truth should be told, Raila had earlier on said that the mitumba clothes are from dead people but most traders and buyers have said that they should not kill the business by relating it to the dead since most poor people depend on them and in a way the market has satisfied their needs.
On the other hand, some said that the speech had failed to handle the real issues that are ailing the nation at the moment since Kenya is not ailing from either selling mitumba’s or lack of steel industries but from bad leadership which is supposed to be addressed and even given more attention.
They added that even though they wear mitumbas they are not dead and they are still voters.
