A section of residents in Malaba Central, Malaba South and Malaba North Wards in Busia County have given mixed reactions following the decision by the responsible Members of the County Assembly to procure utility vehicles recently.
Some residents have congratulated the trio for procuring the vehicles saying the decision will go a long way in helping cut transport costs for most of the residents as the vehicles will be available for them for free incase of any need.
Erick Opalakadi, a resident of Amagoro town which is in Malaba Central ward, has congratulated the Area MCa Bennard Ibella Papa for the decision to procure the vehicle.
‘’Amagoro giants football club has been facing serious transportation challenges when it comes to travelling outside the constituency to showcase its prowess in football against opponents.’’ This vehicle will really help us in terms of transportation in future,” said Opalakadi.
He warned against politicking of the development from people who cannot see anything positive from the MCA.
However, some residents from the three wards have criticized the decision by the trio saying it was an act of misplaced priorities.
“Our hospitals are running without enough staff, medicine, water supply etc. The Mcas needed to have solved that problem first before resorting to hoodwinking the public with these vehicles,”affirmed Omanyala , a resident of Jairos in Malaba North Ward.
‘’We don’t even know the cost of the vehicles.’’ He added angrily.
The Members of the County Assembly have however gone on record to defend their decision.
‘’We now feel relieved in terms of digging deep into our pockets to address teething challenges facing residents including youth and women groups in our wards.
