Several leaders as well as locals in Cherangany constituency have given their varied views following the removal of Soi Mp Caleb Kositany as deputy secretary-general in Jubilee party and replacing him with Cherangany Mp Joshua Kuttuny with some welcoming the move while others opposing it.
Some of the leaders who welcomed the move were Trans Nzoia county secretary-general of the party Francis Wangila who claimed the move
was proper as the evicted Mp had shown disrespect to the party by working with other forces that almost capsized it.
Wangiula claimed Kositany has not been following the party constitution for he has been over the past months been advocating for matters of other parties which was UDA and thus leaving his responsibility and lowering the party loyalty.
He praised the newly appointed deputy SG Joshua Kuttuny noting that the member has been steadfast in the matters of the party and that he has replaced his counterpart Kositany who hailed from the same Kalenjin community calling upon all leaders in the community to work together with Kuttuny in rebranding the party.
However, Deputy President William Ruto’s Supporters unleashed a political message targeting Jubilee Vice-Chairman David Murathe and Secretary-General Raphael Tuju over the removal of Soi Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany as the party’s Deputy Secretary-General.
They termed the removal as an open betrayal of the Deputy President whom they said founded the party alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking to the media in Maili Nane in Cherangany constituency, area residents who were led by Cherangany Parliamentary hopeful Linus Lelei faulted Tuju and Murathe over their decision to replace Kositanyi with Cherangany legislator Joshua Kuttuny.
“We wish to tell both Tuju and Murathe who know from deep down their hearts that they were not elected but handpicked that we shall revisit the matter when the right time comes and it may be too late for them’’, he said.
He added that despite the Deputy President fighting tooth and nail to ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta is elected, some people who are mere appointees have perfected the art of chasing rightful owners of the party in order to entrench dictatorship.
Lelei asserted that Trans Nzoia was solely behind Deputy President William Ruto and that those fighting him would be very uncomfortable
selling the ideas of a party that had antagonized him.
“Let Tuju and Murathe concentrate on other issues now and stop further fights against the DP and his supporters who are ready to move on in seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022’’, he said.
Former URP Trans Nzoia branch chairman Job Sang stated that Tuju and Murathe will be shocked to find out that Jubilee will have remained as a shell due to the betrayal of the man who crisscrossed all corners of this country to ensure Jubilee wins the presidency.
He also took a swipe at Murathe for spreading propaganda that the Deputy President would be forcefully removed from his official Karen residence.
“It is none other than Murathe who has been advancing the idea of ejecting Deputy President William Ruto from his official residence in Karen. I want to remind him that history will judge him harshly’’. He divulged.
In the 2022 presidential race, he called upon all Kenyans to unite against those seeking to galvanize the country and instead back either the hustler man whom he said would help change the livelihoods of the disadvantaged.
“We wish to let current MP Joshua Kuttuny forget about the Cherangany seat for betraying the party he had stood for during the 2017 general elections. Jubilee is dead and we won’t contest the decision made by the Jubilee Party Management Committee on Monday.
In a rejoinder, the MP Joshua Kuttuny said he was grateful for the elevation which was appointed to bigger things that were coming and hinted at yet another shakeup that would see all rebels being shown the door.
The MP spoke at the controversial Nyakinyua farm in his constituency where he urged members to seek an out-of-court settlement mechanism to enable the land adjudication team to fast-track issuance of land titles.
