Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology has lost its pioneer VC professor Barasa Wangila.
Prof Wangila died at Agha Khan hospital in Kisumu on Friday. He has been battling prostate cancer.
He was a professor in aquatic biology and one among few who introduced fishery studies in the country while teaching at Moi university.
He will be remembered as the founding VC of MMUST university where he is credited with establishment of structures at the universities ranging from faculties to relevant worker’s unions at the universities.
Prof. wangila will also be remembered as the one who started the first saving and credits cooperation at the university.
The founding professor was simple person who believed in institutions and procedures. He believed in research and his well working relationship with National council of science and technology has formed the basis on which MMUST stands
