Moi High School Kaplamai in Cherangany constituency dormitory was set a blaze yesternight by unknown arsonists. The school becomes second after Goseta Secondary School dormitory in Kwanza constituency which was also set a blaze in a span of one week.
Some of the parents and teachers that spoke to us on anonymity for fear of rebuttal by the ministry since education C’s banned engagement of teacher information to the media, described that the fire started while students were attending to their preps at 8pm and that no student was injured.
The form one Dormitory however was burnt to ashes as parents stormed the school and took concerted efforts by putting off the fire that helped it from not spreading farther and cause damage to other dormitories.
They however blamed the county Government of Transnzoia fire department for its inefficiency to handle the situation claiming the fire extinguisher van didn’t make it to the school to help extinguish the fire.
Police officers were drawn from Sibanga Police Station were sent to school to keep vigil as well as deter some criminals from taking advantage of the situation and start stealing school properties.
Parents however pleaded with the school administration not to push them hard to pay for the losses incurred at the school promising to work together with the school administration in making sure normal learning of students is not affected especially as candidates prepare for their final KCSE Examinations. Police have started investigations into the incident
