The County government of Nandi has officially launched the Kazi Mtaani programme that is set to benefit more than 2,000 youths from the region, according to Nandi County secretary Dr Francis Sang who led the official launch of the programme at the County office headquarters.
Speaking during the event, Sang said the program will cushion jobless youths who are struggling to come to terms with Covid-19 pandemic which has affected them as majority have lost their jobs. He said that the initiative will benefit youths from slum areas in Kapsabet town and its environs who will work in 2 phases for a period of 6 months until their contracts lapse.
On the other hand the County commissioner Mr Olaka Kutswa lauded the efforts of the national government for starting a good initiative for the youths who are the most affected group during the Covid-19 pandemic, and urged the beneficiaries to consider reporting to their areas of work on time. The programme includes tasks such as waste management, digging of trenches, unblocking sewerages and cleanliness among other odd jobs.
