A suspected motorbike thief narrowly escaped lynching when angry residents attacked him last night at Ebenezer village of Lumakanda location, Lugari Sub County.
The suspect Maurice Bulimu Indiasi, aged 34, is believed to have been involved in a series of motorbike thefts in several places within the Western region.
He’s reported to have gone into hiding for several months following the incidences before he resurfaced with a new motorbike believed to have been stolen igniting the mob’s anger who attacked him with all manner of weapons with a view to lynching him.
It forced the administration police officers from Lumakanda to shoot in the air to disperse angry boda boda operators who were baying for his blood before they managed to rescue and arrested him. According to police the bike Reg. No. KME 841T Honda was
stolen from Kisumu on 29/09/2017.
Sources told West Media the suspect wanted to sale the motorbike at Ksh. 60,000 raising suspicion among bodaboda operators. The suspect is being held at Lumakanda police station as investigations go on before being arraigned in court.
