Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has indicated that United will field a weak team against Crystal palace on the last day of the Premier league season on Sunday. Speaking after his team’s stalemate against Southampton, Mourinho said the day will be big for the younger players, “I hope the crowd enjoys that in spite of it not being a big, strong, Man united team and I hope Big Sam (Crystal Palace) shows he’s really a friend and he goes slow and leaves Benteke at home,” said Mourinho.
Manchester United will face off against Dutch team Ajax on Wednesday 24th in the UEFA Europa League final in Stockholm, Sweden, and Mourinho said the players had a point to prove ahead of the final, “The team was not perfect, but I think the players individually gave me good things, they showed a great attitude and they showed me they want to be in the final.”
However, he didn’t play along with the tune of the press, who were keen to note if Spanish Goalkeeper David De Gea would return back to his home country in the summer to play for Real Madrid. “I think his first match will against LA Galaxy in pre-season in Los Angeles,” said Mourinho, adding that Argentine Sergio Romero will keep his place in the Europa League game as has been the norm this season, while young Portuguese keeper Joel Pereira will start against Crystal Palace on Sunday. “David is top in the world and obviously we want to keep the top (keeper) in the world,” said Mourinho.
