Kenyans will in the near future be forced to be coming out to clean the environment on a monthly basis if Dr. Wilbur Ottichilo’s motion in parliament on environmental cleaning will be passed.
The Emuhaya legislator Dr. Wilbur Otichillo moved a motion in Parliament to compel the state to dedicate one day monthly as a commitment to environmental care.
Initially, Otichillo had suggested that one Saturday of every month be set aside for Kenyans to clean the environment but later said the motion will be amended to set a Friday considering faithfuls who consider Saturday as holy days.

“I had suggested that the state should set aside one Saturday every month as a cleanup day but after insights from my colleagues Ababu Namwamba – Mp Budalangi and Milie Odhiambo – Mp Mbita, I thought it wise to bring it to Fridays”.
He added “On this day Kenyans from all over the Nation will come out in numbers and make our environment tidy”.
Earlier the two law makers Ababu Namwamba and Milie Odhiambo had said having the cleanup on a Saturday will infringe on the right of worship of members of the Seventh Day Adventist church.
