Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama has sent a stern warning to contractors who perform poorly, saying they may be barred from handling any projects in the Constituency. Addressing parents, teachers and students at Lugulu day mixed secondary school in Misikhu while issuing cheques for development projects, Wanyama said there are rogue contractors who are going about their business without keeping the public health guidelines, and end up constructing substandard school buildings, stating that he might liaise with the national government to ensure they are blacklisted since they are wasting taxpayers’ money. He urged school boards to be keen and ensure good work is done by the contractors instead of waiting till the tasks are completed to point out mistakes.
He also pledged to avail more cash for the education sector to ensure a better and conducive environment is set up for all learners in Webuye West. He said all schools in the constituency should have a storey building, keeping in mind the land and space problems schools have had to endure.
He urged students to work hard and advised those who come from a poor background to apply for bursaries so that their academic journey isn’t curtailed. He also noted his readiness to work with any leader for the sake of development regardless of their political affiliation, saying the only way to achieve that is to work together.
