Mumias East MP Ben Washiali has defended the use of the term hustler, saying it’s been misunderstood by some. The MP, who was speaking during a meeting at Deputy President William Ruto’s residence in Karen, Nairobi on Tuesday, said people have misused the term, sticking to its dictionary meaning. He affirmed the term means someone who works hard to fend for his family and provide, in the common context.
He said ODM leader Rails Odinga isn’t part of the hustler nation, “If I’m a hustler it doesn’t mean my child is also one…Raila isn’t a hustler, his father was one though.” Washiali said that the hustler and dynasty talks didn’t start until after the handshake, where a certain pattern was noticed, with Raila Odinga and Gideon Moi involved.
He stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta had promised Deputy President Ruto he’ll take over from him, but they were shocked by the handshake, “We let President Kenyatta have his last term, but then we saw handshakes from all corners. Why were there no handshakes in 2014 and 2017?” he posed. He said those involved are part of dynasties.
