Over 60 orphaned and vulnerable children from Mautuma ward in Lugari Sub County have a reason to smile after receiving a donation of food, books and other learning materials from Mrs. Pamela Nekesa Anyona, spouse to the Mautuma ward Member of County Assembly elect Charles Anyona.
Speaking during the event held at Glory ECDE center in Mbagara sub location, Mrs. Anyona regretted the challenges the children were going through both in school and at home.
She said she took the move to ensure the children continue without any problem and also feel accepted like any other child in the community.
Mrs. Anyona promised to work closely with other well-wishers who have the children at their heart to continue supporting them to ensure they get all basic needs.
She said that through this move many orphan and vulnerable children who had lost hope of continuing with their education will be retained in school and realize their dreams.
On her part Mrs. Frida Sakwa the teacher in charge of Glory ECDE said most children at the center face a lot of challenges ranging from lack of books, pens, uniforms and payment of school levies as well as lack of food in their homes.
Mrs. Sakwa’s sentiments were echoed by Evelyn Lutomia and Gladys Wasilwa who thanked Mrs. Anyona for her support to the less fortunate children appealing for other well-wishers to join her in helping and ensure the OVCs live a good life.
