After he came second in the just concluded Jubilee party primaries in Mt Elgon, Harry Kimtai, a parliamentary seat hopeful in the constituency has expressed his interest in seeking an alternative party to be on the ballot paper in the August 8th polls.
In an exclusive interview, Kimtai says the Jubilee nomination exercise was marred by massive irregularities saying in some regions members were allowed to vote despite not being in the party register.
He added that he raised the issues with the relevant authorities but they could not be properly addressed saying he is optimistic that despite another person having been given the certificate, he has made wide consultations and he will be seeking another option to be in the ballot box.
“I was a committed to the Jubilee party but it is now time to part ways as the people of Mt Elgon have asked me to take the battle to the ballot box where they will have an opportunity to freely and fairly choose their own leader,” he said.
He called upon the residents to remain calm as he will be soon announcing the party he will be vying on saying the people of Mt Elgon are yearning for better and focused leadership saying he will not let them down if given a chance to be the next MP.
He garnered 8,890 votes in the primaries which were won by Fred Kapondi Chesebe who garnered 12,051 votes.
Elsewhere Kimilili ward FORD Kenya aspirant Emmanuel Makhapila Mwangale has promised to help the people of Kimilili to be self-reliant and start up different development projects saying he is also hopeful that he will be elected in the August polls.
He urged the people to elect FORD Kenya candidates in the polls since they have proven to provide alternative better leadership that will be able to positively transform the lives of residents.
