A series of peace meetings across Mt Elgon Constituency are being carried out by various groups from non governmental organisation and religious stake holders to mobilize the importance of maintaining peace before, during and after general election.
Bishop David Ngaira is one of religious stake holders in the country, said that they are working hard to meet residents from all six wards of Mt Elgon Constituency in hand with other religious leaders in order to talk to them concerning peace.
Ngaira also warned politicians who have the habit of using youths to cause chaos in various functions to shun from such acts.
On the other hand, Michael Gitonga one of the ambassadors of peace from one of the non governmental organisation said that youth from Mt Elgon have opportunities and therefore encouraged them to engage in different activities such as farming.

He also added that women and children are the most affected people in cases of violence relating with the past post election violence.
He discouraged youths from depending on politician’s hand outs but instead work hard to avoid being slaves to them.
This comes few days after several church leaders from Mt Elgon had a long consultation with politicians across the mountain discussing the importance of maintaining peace during campaigns and elections period.
