ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi has reiterated that the Huduma Namba registration process is beneficial to Kenya and dispelled rumours and worries that it may be used for other unwarranted reasons. Speaking during the launch of the registration exercise in Kajiado, Mudavadi said with the Huduma Namba will help with services management and in keeping an accurate account of the voter register thus upholding democracy, “With this number, a lot of things that have been going wrong shall be able to be dealt with,” he said, terming it a milestone.
He said the registration will benefit the exercise of voter registration in the future, given that data won’t be tampered with as it may have been in the past. He said apart from security, accurate data is vital for the country’s democracy, and the Huduma Namba registration will help with that.
He also pointed out that in the past, during the introduction of the KRA PIN for taxation, some came out to protest against the same, saying it had satanic connections, “But this was all propaganda from behind the scenes of people who were realizing that once you embrace technology in things like taxation then the prospects of tax evation become less and less.”
