With just 17 days remaining for Kenyans to exercise their democratic right, Mumias East constituency has become a battle ground for the gubernatorial seat in Kaamega County.
The seat is highly contested with the current Senator Cleophas Malala and the former KETRACO CEO Fernandes Barasa.
Both candidates are currently holding several rallies not less than 3 times a week in quest to solicit more votes in their favour.
Barasa approaches the electorates with a good track record of managerial skills, having served as the CEO of KETRACO, and advantage of his ancestral home being Khabondi.
On the other hand, Cleophas Malala enjoys the popularity advantage having served as a Senator for Kakamega County, and the famous Super Senator cup which was initiated when he clinched the Senatorial seat in 2017 that has seen him rise to fame across the County.
On Thursday, the two held different rallies in East Wanga ward, with Barasa approaching the residents at Shikulu village, while Malala camping at Musango village.
Now the ball remains in the citizens’ hands to elect whom they feel will serve them diligently without fear and favour.
