The remains of slained Muthithi Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Mr. Henry Odongo Sindani were laid to rest at his home in Chekalini village, Lugari sub county with leaders from Kakamega County demanding state explanation over his murder.

The late Muthithi OCS met his fatal death on 26th June this year after a junior police officer lobbed several bullets into his chest, stomach and legs while on duty at his station in Maragua Sub county of Murang’a county.

Security officers from different ranks who attended the burial, among them Central Regional Coordinator Mr. Larry Kieng, Murang’a County Commander Mrs. Naomi Ichami and Lugari OCPD Bernard Macharia appealed for calmness from members of public as well as family of the deceased as the police department hunts down the murderer.

Both Kieng and Ichami narrated to the mourners the agonizing experience the deceased went through after he was shot by his junior colleague.

“Efforts by medical practitioners at hospital in Maragua to resuscitate our colleague hit a snag due to excessive internal bleeding,” said Ichami.

“We, however, want to assure the public, family members and relatives of the deceased that the security department will use all available means in tracking down the runaway officer,” assured Kieng, who described the late Sindani as a humble and dedicated civil servant.

The deceased and the runaway murderer, who is a constable at Muthithi station, are said to have had a slight altercation before the latter snatched a gun from the former, which he used to fire several times at him at close range.

But Kakamega County Assembly minority leader, Titus Kwomah, led his colleagues in faulting the regional coordinator’s statement and instead demanded for immediate arrest of the murderer.

“We are tired by these kinds of sugarcoated promises from the government,” said Kwomah who noted  Sindani’s death added to the growing list of Kenyans who have died under extra judicial killings acts.

“How long should it take our well equipped security apparatus to arrest runaway killers?” asked Kwomah who is Member of County Assembly for Chekalini ward.

Lugari Ward MCA Musa Makhapila accused the government of taking a back-sit while innocent Kenyans lost their lives.

The MCAs’ sentiments were echoed by Kakamega County government Chief of Staff Mr. Nabii Nabwera who accused the national government of protecting murder criminals.

“It’s wrong for the central regional commandant to inform mourners  that his department was waiting for the burial of Sindani before taking action against his killer,” observed Nabwera.
