Bumula Member of parliament, Mwambu Mabonga has dismissed the results of the survey that was done recently by Infotrak concerning the performance of MPs across the country terming it as unjustifiable.
Speaking to West Media, Mwambu said that his development performance is seen all over and there is no need to pay a certain body to establish whether he is working or not.
He said that Members of Parliament were being asked to pay in something to influence the outcome of the survey.
“The ratings that were recently conducted by Infotrak are full of lies and nobody should trust that, there is no need for a person to just sit, plan and start calling MPs and ask them to give some cash to be rated favorably. We were called, like myself I was called and asked to pay 500,000 Kenya shillings to be given position one, I declined that,” said Mwambu
He insisted that the projects he has done since he was elected speak for themselves and promised to continue working for Bumula people for the remaining period before the next general elections.
“What I have done in my constituency is known to my people and I will continue working for them until 2022. It doesn’t make sense for me to pay an organization to rate me well, I would rather use that money to help my people,” he added.
“In 2022 I will be standing on my projects that I have done for my people and it is them who will decide whether what I promised them is accomplished or not,” explained Mwambu.
He however revealed that the board in charge of development in constituencies will be touring constituencies across the country to ascertain the projects done by MPs.
In the recent research conducted by Infotrak, Mwambu was rated among the worst performing MPs and was ranked at position nine overall and the last in Bungoma County with 47.9% .
Kimilili legislator Didmus Barasa was ranked the best in the County with 66.5% followed by Mt. Elgon’s Fred Kapondi with 56.4%, David Eseli of Tongaren was position three with 56.3 %, John Waluke Koyi of Sirisia was ranked fourth with 55.2 %, James Lusweti Mukwe was fifth with 53.2%, Alfred Sambu of Webuye East took the sixth position with 53.1%, seventh position was occupied by Dan Wanyama Sitati of Webuye West with 49.2% and Athanas Wafula Wamunyinyi was eighth position with 48.2%.
