Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has termed his disciplinary process as a ‘witch hunt’ since it had already formed an opinion to foresee his removal. He claims that all this is because of him supporting the Deputy President Dr. William Ruto.
The nominated senator was captured on video addressing residents in Githurai the day ODM party leader Raila Odinga was paying his visit. He was accused of disloyalty to his party that nominated him to Senate and also inciting violence.
Mwaura has faulted the committee for being selective, pointing out that Maina Kamanda who is another nominated MP was publicly campaigning for an ODM candidate in Kibra and no action has been taken against him.
“Maina Kamanda another nominated member has been openly campaign for ODM candidate in Kibra. Why didn’t you summon him? That to me, it is discrimination. You are implying partiality,” he said.
He went ahead to claim that he does not have faith in the committee at all.
“You already have a determined position. David Murathe has actually said am going to be expel and he has also declared he will support Raila Amollo Odinga for president, this meeting is just pure witch hunt,” Mwaura said.
This comes after the top Jubilee officials had vowed to restore discipline in the party on Monday.
The Jubilee Chairman Nelson Nzuiya had forwarded a complaint to the committee alleging that the second term MP was acting contrary to the party rules.
“…pledging allegiance to another party, acting in a manner that is disloyal to Jubilee party and contravening the Jubilee party code of conduct,” Dzuya’s complaint stated.
Mwaura termed this as a witch hunt and went ahead to say he was very loyal to the party as a paid up member.
“I am a paid up members of Jubilee Party. I pay Sh20,000 every month. I have never voted against any Jubilee party position. I have strongly defended the party position even when the party position is not clear to anyone,” he said.
