Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu has been nominated for the position of Deputy Chief Justice. The Court of Appeal Judge has served in the Judiciary for 32 years. The JSC statement read, “The JSC has after lengthy deliberations recommended Hon. Lady Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu for appointment as the Deputy Chief Justice.”
In her interview, she insisted that she is ready to fight corruption, saying that she will set up systems, in order to fight corruption.
Another notable feature of her interview was her support for polygamy, “I don’t see a conflict in law, it just gives options on if you want to be in a monogamous or polygamous arrangement,” she said.
She had asked the JSC to increase the number of women in the Supreme Court to three.
