Former Finance Cabinet Minister David Mwiraria is dead. The former Minister passed away on Thursday morning in Karen, Nairobi after a long battle with cancer. The late David Mwiraria’s career was blighted by the Anglo leasing case, a multi-billion corruption scandal that involved several leaders, including Kiraitu Murungi, that forced Mwiraria to resign from his Finance Ministry to pave way for investigations back in 2006.
Later in 2007, he was appointed Minister of Environment and Natural Resources by former President Mwai Kibaki after he was cleared. He was also the MP for North Imenti from 1992 to 2007-till he was defeated by Silas Muriuki-had a Master’s Degree in Statistics from Makerere University, Uganda and had an illustrious career even before he took up positions in the government.
