Incumbent Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko has scooped the Nairobi Jubilee gubernatorial ticket, trouncing his opponent and former presidential aspirant Peter Kenneth, and also Bishop Margaret Wanjiru. Sonko garnered 138,185 votes against Peter Kenneth’s 62,502 votes. Johnson Sakaja won the Jubilee Senatorial ticket, garnering 163,448 votes, while his competitor Kavemba Mutimba got 33,109 votes. The Nairobi Woman Representative position went to Rachel Shebesh, who scooped 91,766 votes, while Milicent Omanga got 53,734 and Karen Nyamu garnered 36,828 votes.

Peter Kenneth had earlier on released a statement, refuting the party primaries as a “sham election” and disassociated himself with the exercise. He said Jubilee took time to indicate that they will use only national IDs in the exercise instead of the party register, and this allowed even non-members to vote, and people voted in various polling stations instead of the polling stations they were registered in. “Additionally, when the register was introduced halfway through voting, many voters who were registered party members had their names missing in areas where the registers were available and were, therefore, denied the opportunity to vote,” read the statement. He also said there were cases of voter bribery and a massive number of voters were imported.
