Sports activities in Kabuchai and Bungoma County at large received a boost after the launch of construction of a 55.8 million stadium that will house a football field, racing track, ICT center among others.
Dr. Doreen Odhiambo the academy CEO says Nalondo stadium is the third to be launched in the country saying it will offer a platform for Kabuchai and residents of Bungoma County at large to nurture their talents.
She added that apart from football other games will be played in the field including rugby, hockey and also in door games saying it will be the first of its kind.
Dr. Odhiambo disclosed that the academy will also be continuing to scout for players and also offer training opportunities to residents to train as referees who will be officiating matches.
Kabuchai Mp Majimbo Kalasinga applauded the efforts of the ministry in fulfilling it’s promise to residents of Kabuchai saying the stadium will be a game changer.
He said the brain child of the project was started during the reign of former CS Ababu Namwamba and has been passed on to the successors until the current CS Salim Mvurya saying it’s a dream come true.
Hon Kalasinga called upon parents to embrace talents among their children saying in conformity with the Competency based curriculum they will be nurtured to the extreme.
Residents led by local musicians Wabwile Wa Barasa and Wanyonyi Wa Kakai expressed their gratitude to the government for starting the project saying it will help many youths.
