As battle for votes in Western Kenya looms between Jubilee and Cord, Western leaders have called upon the just resigned ODM secretary general Ababu Namwamba to join hands with other Western leaders ahead of the 2017 polls following the discord in the ODM Party.
The resignation of Ababu Namwamba who cited tyranny and disparage in ODM, has elicited mixed reaction across political divide with pundits terming it a blow to ODM in Busia and entire Western Region.
Sikhendu Member of County Assembly Andrew Sichangi Kutitila, has lauded Namwamba for resigning his post urging him to work with his brothers to decide the region’s destiny.
Kutitila has challenged Namwamba to make amends with his brothers and lead the Luhya Community in a desired direction ahead of the coming 2017 elections.
“Ababu has come back home, we cannot continue living in others political coons it is time for the region to chat our own destiny.
The likes of Cord leader Raila Odinga have made us suffer in opposition, it is now time and Ababu and Otuoma have shown the direction” said Kutitila.
He called for immediate disbandment of the many parties in Western saying it will help the area unite and support one candidate for presidency.
Kutitila blamed disunity in Luhya community to many political parties, saying the issue has divided the ‘Mulembe people’ noting that the formation of one outfit for the coming polls with help the community unite.
“This issue of many presidential aspirants showing up is eating our unity since the community is left in dilemma on whom to support. It will be noble for us to form one political party to unite us together” he added saying that the community will no longer support opposition.
Ababu who has been evading many CORD and ODM events like the famous ‘whistling’ where Cord Mps heckled the President during the state address and anti –IEBC demonstrations showed that trouble was already brewing in Cord.
His resignation comes barely a week after ODM Vice chair the Funyala legislator Paul Otuoma depicted rebellion in ODM leadership where the duo lamented of unilateral decisions that undervalued their ability and contributions to what makes up ODM today.
While others will over look their grievances like when they said ODM forums have organized in their home yard without their Knowledge, the embattled leaders have accused top leadership of neglecting their plight.
However, Busia governor Sospeter Odeke Ojaamong has started crystal clear that ODM in Busia is still intact and Ababu resignation is only a drop in the ocean that cannot decide or rather affect the Party leadership.
Busia ODM chair Person innocent Oluku echoed Ojaamong’s sentiments saying the area will vote for Raila Odinga in the coming elections.
Ababu’s confession and regrets for having campaigned against the ANC’s party leader Musalia Mudavadi in the last general elections could be termed as a turning point to Luhya politics especially if he will work with the area’s big wings
