Namwela High School and Bukokholo ready for the FEASSSA championships

The representatives of Western Kenya Namwela high school, have been listed in group A together with Andersen from Trans-Nzoia, Lalwa Secondary of Tanzania, PSVF Huye of Rwanda and Standard High Zzana of Uganda in the group draw of the volleyball games as competition for the East African School championships is set to take place starting 17th to 27th September, 2023

Namwela head coach Isaac Mresh, says he will prepare his team well before kickoff of the East African competition (FEASSA).

“I have learned a lot from the matches we have played. My team had not lost any match until the semi-final stage of the national final but when we were beaten, that’s when I realized that the opposition is strong. I am going to correct the mistakes and I promise we will record good results.” Isaac said.

The principal of the school, Stephen Mutaki, says he will ensure his team gets enough support during the East African campaign.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Namwela school. They have been helpful to our team and we have recorded good results. I, as Principal, will make sure this team gets enough money so that it will be a motivation for them.” Mutaki said.

 National winners Ruthmitu, lead group B which lists Tumaini School from Kenya, GS St. Josephs of Rwanda, Kukedia Comprehensive and Namugongo of Uganda.

Tumaini School from Kenya will start off against Namugongo in group B, as Andersen faces Standard High of Uganda, Kalwa Secondary will compete PSVF Huye of Rwanda before GS St. Josephs of Rwanda close the bid against Bukedia.

For Girls’ Volleyball, National Champions Kesogon are drawn in group A alongside Kenya’s Mwitoti who finished fourth at the Nationals, Tanzania’s Nasuli Sec, Uganda’s Nora HS and Rwanda’s IPRC Kigali.

Former national champions Kwanthanze will compete in group B with St. Aloys of Rwanda, Soweto Sec, Seroma Christian and St. Elizabeth of Uganda.

Kenya’s Kwanthanze will start the championship campaign against St. Aloys of Rwanda; Mwitoti who qualified after finishing in fourth place in the national finals will compete Nasuli of Tanzania, IPRC Kigali vs Ngora HS Kasha while Soweto from Kenya is to face Seroma Christina of Uganda.

In Netball, Bukokholo High School from Kenya will play against St. Mary’s Kitende of Uganda, GS Gahini of Rwanda, Mukolani of Tanzania and Budo SS (Uganda) in Group B.

Group A, includes Netball winners from Kenya Uyugi Ogango, Andersen, Rutozo from Tanzania, St.Noah Girls and Kawanda from Uganda.

The principal of Oyugi Ogango High School, Rose Akinyi, is confident that her team will record good results in the upcoming competition.

“I am very happy for the school I lead to emerge as the winner of the Netball game. I watched their final against Bukokholo and the match was not easy. It is a title that I was hoping to get and my team has raised my name as the principal of the school.” Akinyi said

This year’s edition of East Africa Secondary school games will run from 17th to 27th August, 2023 in Huye, Rwanda
