Namwela ward residents in Sirisia sub county have been urged to choose clan leaders wisely so as to reduce the rate of evil cases in the society. Speaking in Matibo village during the Bamalaka clan elections, Namwela Member of County Assembly Charles Nangulu, has urged other clans to emulate and take the same direction of electing leaders who will rebuke evil in the society.
“I want to sincerely thank the Bamalaka clan for coming up with this initiative that will help in building our community in terms of culture and development, and the same thing should be emulated by other clans,” he said.
He said there are so many vices happening in our society today as a result of poor clan leadership that has failed to articulate cultural issues to the young generation.
“We have so many people being killed every day as result of land conflicts, we have also increased cases of defilement, divorce and incest simply because our people have put aside our culture,” he said.
The Member of County Assembly also urged the people of Namwela and County as whole to embrace their cultural practices, saying it will bring unity among clans and tribes.
On other hand, the newly elected international chairman for the Bamalaka clan Mr. George Masambu thanked his people for coming out strongly to elect him.
“I want to thank my people for giving me this opportunity to lead you, I promise to work hand in hand with government leaders to ensure our clan achieve its goals,” he said.
