The County Assembly of Nandi through a motion tabled by Kapsabet ward MCA Fredrick Kipkemboi has unanimously given the County Secretary of Nandi Dr Francis Sang a 30-day ultimatum to reconsider the redeployment of 60 officials from the Ministry of Roads and Water among other sectors on grounds of incompetence and graft.
The County Assembly unanimously voted so, the officials in view including six sub-county administrators, ward administrators, roads and water engineers and their supervisors due to alleged financial irregularities and total incompetence. Members of the County Assembly who spoke said that the officials had conspired with the Finance Department to approve payments for non existing, ghost projects which is wrong and action should be taken immediately.
Terik and Nandi hills ward MCAs Osborn Komen and Gideon Koech said some of the projects in their areas of jurisdiction have stagnated while the contractors for these projects were paid before the commencement of the projects.
The County government of Nandi under the administration of Governor Stephen Sang has come under attack due to alleged graft which has stalled development projects.
