Nandi candidates vying for various elective seats have vowed to conduct peaceful campaigns ahead of the August 9 General Elections as per the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) code of conduct.
Speaking during the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission code of conduct seminar held in Kapsabet which brought together candidates vying for the three top County positions, the candidates unanimously vowed to conduct peaceful and mature campaigns ahead of the August polls affirming that there will be no confrontations or negative energy in their campaigns.
They pledge to chart for the new course /way forward from the negative perceptions to politicians who disregard election laws.
On the other hand, Nandi County IEBC elections manager Mr. Silas Rotich cautioned the candidates against temptations of breaching the code of conduct rules and regulations because the law will take its costs without any favour.
“Any candidate found going against the elections rules and regulations as stipulated by the IEBC will face the law. He or she will take own responsibility,” Rotich affirmed.
He cited that candidates flouting the code of conduct rules and regulations will not only carry their own cross but could also be disqualified from vying urging them to be extra careful while carrying out their campaigns.
