Nandi County Executive Committee members were sworn in on Tuesday, in a colourful ceremony presided over by the principal magistrate of the Kapsabet law courts Dolphina Adoli. Those sworn in are Education CEC Mr. Stanley Baliach, Agriculture and Cooperative Development CEC Mr. Wilson Kibor Taiy, Health and Sanitation CEC Mrs. Ruth Koech, Lands, Environment and Natural Resources CEC Mr. Jacob Tanui, Administration, Public Service and E-government CEC Mrs. Teresa Morogo, Sports and Youth Affairs CEC Mr. Elly Kurgat, Culture, Tourism and Social Welfare CEC Mrs. Valentine Chumo, Trade, Investment and Industrialization CEC Mr. Benard Lagat, Finance and Economic Planning CEC Alfred Lagat and finally Transport and Infrastructure CEC Mr. Hillary Koech respectively.
Addressing listeners at the swearing-in ceremony, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang who was accompanied by Mosop MP Vincent Tuwei, Aldai MP Cornelius Serem and Nandi woman representative Dr. Tecla Tum, asked his newly sworn in team to effectively and efficiently serve and deliver the mandate bestowed on them fully, adding that he won’t tolerate any form of laziness and incompetence.
Sang directed that all County employees in Nandi must not report to work on Wednesday so as to allow them adequate time to travel to their respective localities for the repeat presidential polls slated for Thursday. He asked Nandi residents to turn up in large numbers and vote for president Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
On the other hand, Nandi County Commissioner Lucy Mulili assured voters of their security and said there is no reason to fear. She cited that security officers have been deployed to guard all the polling centres including the areas along the border with Kisumu County to curb any threats.
