Nandi County Commissioner Harman Shambi has called on Nandi electorates to exercise their democratic right of voting peacefully in the August 9th polls saying Kenya needs peace for prosperity.
Speaking during a peace prayer Caravan launch at Kapsabet showground, Shambi noted that the August General Elections are around the corner and there is need to exercise and stress on peace irrespective of different political parties and affiliations.
The Commissioner cited that peace is a very important tool of development and prosperity of every nation thus asked Nandi residents especially those living on borders to uphold peace and unity among themselves before, during and after the August polls.
He revealed that Nandi County and the country at large is bigger than anyone and Kenyans are not ready to experience again what was witnessed during the 2007/2008 General Elections therefore there is need for everybody to uphold peace.
Other County leaders who spoke at the meeting include; the County Woman representative Dr. Tecla Tum, CEC for Lands, Environment & Natural Resources Dr. Philemon Bureti and CEC for Education, Grace Sugut who urged Nandi electorates to consider peace as their priority.
They affirmed that as Nandi leaders they will ensure peace prevails in the region before, during and after the August polls urging residents to turn up in large numbers and exercise their democratic right of electing their leaders of choice.
They reminded them to put their political differences aside and unite together for the unity of the nation and prosperity at large insisting that there is no need to fight as leaders since election come and go hence should accept the results the way will be announced despite their political differences.
