Nandi County Commissioner Mr. George Omoding has warned a section of residents who’ve denied other citizens the opportunity to comment on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report. Speaking to the press in his office, Omoding said the BBI report is for all people and is open to all opinions. He added that the main purpose of the report is to unite Kenyans and promote cohesion and integration and no one has the right to cut off comments concerning it, “Everybody has freedom of speech and expression.”
The BBI report has divided opinions, with supporters citing increased allocation of funds to Counties, creation of a ward development fund as key gains for devolution, among other benefits contained there in. However, aspects touching on the expanded executive, the judiciary, the constitution and management of the police force, he IEBC have drawn strong opposition, with leaders, both in the political and religious sectors, calling for a consensus and changes to be made.
