Nandi County commissioner George Omoding has affirmed that the Office of criminal investigations in the County is currently handling investigations surrounding the cases of teenage pregnancies, in order to bring the culprits to book.
He said the aim is to arrest those responsible, noting that cases of teenage pregnancies in Nandi have risen and thorough action should be taken to tame the rise. He said that Tinderet and Aldai have the highest number of cases, “They conceived last year, when the Covid-19 pandemic prompted the closure of learning institutions for months,” he said.
He revealed that schools have been directed to admit all girls and asked chiefs and their assistants to ensure they give weekly reports on the progress of admissions, “Those who will not have reported to school by 10th this month will be tracked to their homes.”
He further urged parents to be on the look out for their kids and take up the parenting responsibility, saying majority of them have abandoned their duty to provide good parenting, especially for the girl child.
