The County commissioner for Nandi Mr Olaka Kutswa has urged residents living in mudslide and floods prone areas to consider moving to safer grounds. He said the Kenya Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rainfall throughout the months of June and July in that region, raising fears of more dangerous effects in various parts of the country.

He has asked residents in Tinderet constituency residing in areas of Lengon, Tereno, Kapchanga, Cherondo, Kabirer, Uson Kabewa, Morobi shau and Chepsangur to swiftly move to safer grounds. “I urge Nandi residents in dangerous places to take precautions due to the heavy rains pounding the country.”

The commissioner has also urged those living along the borders of Nandi and Kisumu Counties to be extra vigilant against the raging waters of river Ainamng’etuny and Kipchorian which normally flood during heavy rainfall seasons causing havoc and wreckage to properties. Areas like Nyalenda, Kibuye, Ahero, Rabwor, Nyangoma, Lala, Awasi and Rabogi along the Kisumu- Nandi border are areas to be keep an eye on.
