The CEC for Finance Nandi county Charles Muge, has delivered a budget statement of Budget estimates of Ksh. 6.4 Billion to the county Assembly of Nandi for the fiscal year 2016/2017.
While Presenting the budget estimates , Muge said the total expenditure estimates for the financial year 2016/2017 amounts to Ksh. 6.4 B comprising of Ksh. 3.90 B for recurrent and Ksh. 2.5 B developments which translates to 61% recurrent and 39% development.
He said personnel expenditure translates to 30%, operations 27.8% and maintenance being 2.2% of the total estimates.
The CEC said the county government intends to implement the 6.4 billion shillings budget using the county revenue projected at Ksh. 273.28 M, National government transfers of Ksh. 5.13 billion shillings, capitalization of unspent recurrent and pending bills of about Ksh. 822 M and other grants to the county that a mounts to Ksh. 378.35 M.
He said Health, Water, infrastructure and education took the largest share of the budget.
Water was given a share of Ksh. 350 M in order to ensure access to clean and piped water to all residents of Nandi, Health Ksh. 313 M for acquisition of Drugs, non-pharmaceuticals and lab reagents, infrastructure Ksh. 300 M for acquisition of more plant and equipment and Education Ksh. 75 M for construction of ECD centers.
Agriculture Ksh. 175 M for veterinary services that includes A.I, purchase of vaccines and serum, construction of new cattle dips and supply of acaricides.
Other sectors that was budgeted for includes tourism, culture, sports and cooperative development which was given Ksh. 30 M for improvement of coffee factories and pullers, construction of a conference /cultural center and branding of Nandi county as a tourist destination.
Ksh. 57 M was set aside for completion of Kipchoge Keino stadium in Kapsabet and Nandi Hills stadium phase 2, construction and equipping of Kaptumo resource center and construction and equipping of other sporting facilities in the county.
Social protection for vulnerable groups was also budgeted for Ksh. 3 M for the construction of an orphaned and vulnerable children rescue center.
