The church of latter day saints from Nairobi has donated some food stuff worth Kshs 7.7 million and a further Kshs 7.2 million for maternal and child care, to the County government of Nandi to assist the vulnerable in the society
The deputy governor for Nandi Dr Yulita Cheruiyot who received the donations officially from the church in an event held at Kapsabet boys high school, thanked the church for the kind step taken to ensure the needs of vulnerable people are taken care of.
Cheruiyot said the food will be distributed to every ward to benefit the needy people especially the old people living with disabilities to aid them in this tough economic time caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The deputy governor said the Kshs 7.2 million meant for maternal and child healthcare will be sent to the County government account as soon as possible to be used for its designated purpose.
On the other hand, one of the church officials Mr. Dominic Kogo who oversaw the distribution of the food donation, said they have resolved as a church to offer a helping hand to the needy with the little they have after the Covid-19 pandemic destabilized many sectors.
