The County Assembly of Nandi Speaker’s seat has attracted a total of eleven candidates who have shown interest in contesting for the competitive post.
Clerk to the County Assembly of Nandi Mr. Barnabas Kosgey confirmed this saying initially there were fourteen candidates who had applied for the position but eleven of them qualified for the position.
Kosgey affirmed that the eleven contestants have met the requirements as stipulated by the law and will be battling on 21st September 2022 after the MCAs are sworn in in order to elect their speaker.
Among those in the Speaker’s race are former Chesumei MP Dr. Wilson Kogo, former Tindiret MCA and secretary to the County Assembly’s Forum Hon. Kipkurui Chepkwony, Lawyers Chebet Kisorio, Philemon Melly, Partrick Kiprotich, Jairus Kibet, Cornelius Koech and Joshua Kiprotich among others.
Kosgey affirmed that all is set for today’s swearing in ceremony of the MCAs and the exercise will commence as from 9am Wednesday (today) at the County Assembly’s Chambers.
The Deputy Speaker’s post which is from the members has attracted at least four candidates including the former Nandi County Deputy Speaker Hon. Wilson Sang (MCA elect Chepkumia Ward) who is serving his Third term, MCA elect Songhor/Soba Ward, Hon. Raymond Chelule, Mathew Sang and Nelson Kiboi respectively.
