The United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) in partnership with the Athletics Kenya has launched the Nandi County’s Air quality monitoring sensor at Eliud Kipchoge sports complex in alignment with road to Conference of parties (COP 27) as various stakeholders in state global progress on climate change are continually engaged.
Speaking during the launch, the Cabinet Secretary for Sports and Youth Affairs Ababu Namwamba warned the Athletes against the doping menace saying as the government will give a proposal on the amendment of the law to criminalize doping to make it extremely expensive, so as the culprits face it rough.
“We are going to elevate the doping substances to the same level as hard tax so that when we catch you, we shall punish you severely.” Namwamba affirmed.
The CS said all Athletes should face the World, beat the World with integrity and say No to doping which has become a menace to many Athletes in the World.
On the other hand, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang noted that the two governments should work hand in hand in ensuring that the untapped pool of talents across the country are utilized well to make sure more Athletes are nurtured well for National and global competitions.
Sang revealed that as the County government have reached an agreement with the Sports CS to ensure Kipchoge Keino stadium in Kapsabet reaches its completion so as to nurture more talents in the region.
The program will also go along with the construction and equipping of ultra modern Eliud Kipchoge sports complex that is almost nearing its completion.
