The deputy governor for Nandi Dr Yulita Cheruiyot has faulted the national government for failing to release money to County governments, saying the situation has paralysed service delivery in Counties.
Speaking during the end year County prayers meeting, she said Counties should be accorded respect by ensuring they get their money on time to make them functional and ensure employees are paid on time. She wondered why the Treasury is so slow to release money to Counties yet it understands how the devolved units work.
Concerning the issue of spending during this festive season, she urged Nandi residents to spend their money wisely and expect hard economic times next year due to the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. She was keen to remind parents that schools will be reopening in January and they should plan wisely.
