Nandi County government in partnership with the Export Processing Zones Authority(EPZA) is set to establish an export processing zone at Chemase region in Tindiret sub-county.
This will be accomplished after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties that is the County government of Nandi and the Export Processing Zone Authority.
The memorandum seeks to establish the EPZ in a 218-acre piece of land in Chemase plains next to Kibigori trading centre.
Speaking to the residents after touring the site, Nandi County CEC in charge of Trade, Investment and Industrialization Dr. Bernard Kiplimo said the project is aimed at creating job opportunities to the residents thus will be of a good benefit to the people of Nandi and the country at large.
He cited that the project will also improve the standards of the infrastructure and the country’s economic growth at large.
If established in the County, it will benefit the residents especially the youths, given that a majority of them are jobless.
The CEC assured residents that the County government under the leadership of Governor Stephen Sang will transform their lives, this being one of the agendas in his manifesto which seeks to transform Nandi County at large.
