Nandi MCAs have questioned the County leadership under Governor Stephen Sang following stalled health projects despite allocation of sufficient funds for the projects.
Led by Terik MCA Osborn Komen, the MCAs lamented that despite allocating enough money for developments, many projects in Nandi including the Kshs 500 million mother and baby care hospital have stalled for long, a situation they termed unacceptable and have demanded an explanation from the Governor.
Other stalled projects include the Kobujoi, Kapseng’ere and Chepterwai hospitals which have stalled for over three years now
“How comes that the County assembly has continued to fund these health projects yet there is little the County government of Nandi can showcase on the ground?” they questioned.
They blamed the delay on failure by the County government of Nandi to pay the contractors of the said projects and called upon the Governor to ensure they get paid to enable them resume the work and complete it before the 2022 political season catches steam.
On the other hand, the Health CEC Ruth Koech speaking on the projects, said the money meant for completion of these projects had been channeled to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic and they have to wait for more funds. The Nandi County government has been facing allegations of misappropriation of funds in various dockets, with MCAs grilling top officials of various departments.
