Nandi government planning to set up a GBV rescue center

The County government of Nandi is planning to set aside a rescue center for gender based violence (GBV) victims in order to avail social and psychological support for them.┬áSpeaking during a visit to the Kapsabet County referral hospital, Nandi deputy governor Dr Yulita Cheruiyot together with her counterpart from Makueni Mrs Adelina Mwau, said the rescue center will provide guidnace and counseling to the victims of GBV, “Cases of GBV have been on the rise in Nandi and the availability of a rescue center will help in tackling such issues through social and psychological support.”

She revealed that the County administration is committed to providing support programs to the GBV apart from providing quality health care services and appealed to the national government to consider releasing funds on time to the County governments to facilitate implementation of projects. On her part, Adelina Mwau said there are a lot of useful projects which should be initiated by County governments, but funding still remains an issue.
