The County government of Nandi under the leadership of Governor Dr. Cleophas Lagat has been blamed for poor infrastructure which has hindered transport at grassroots levels a situation which has forced residents to go to the streets demonstrating against the impassable muddy roads.
This has been demonstrated practically by the residents of Kombe and Chomisia led by the BodaBoda operators who took to the streets in solidarity to demand their rights as they have been facing challenges in transporting their crops to the market due to poor roads.
The Boda Boda operators led by their chairman Mr. Isaack Keter demonstrated along Chomisia -Kombe- Denja road decrying the poor condition of the road which has hindered transportation services.
They complained that the road was dug and left without leveling during the visit by one of the prominent figure is in the pathetic state due to the heavy downpour which continues to pound the area laying the blame on the county government for not listening to them.
They blamed the area MCA Kaptel/Kamoiywo ward Hon Amos Korir, the area MP Chesumei Hon Elijah Lagat and the governor for sleeping on their jobs adding that they have no time for development issues but rather have time on raising money in funerals and harambees.
The assistant county commissioner for Chesumei sub-county Ngura Mwamachi ,the OCPD Nandi Central Joakim Mecha and the area chief William Kemboi who came to the scene moments later had a rough time to cool the demonstrators as they were not given a listening ear.
After a struggle for some time, the people decided to listen to the officers and were given time to air their grievances thus sent them with the message to deliver to the accused leaders.
