Nandi county commissioner Olaka Kutswa has revealed that 75% of drinking dens in Nandi are hotspots for illicit brews of chang’aa and that they are working tirelessly to ensure the places are shut down.
Speaking to the press in Kapsabet during a Covid-19 press address in Nandi, Kutswa said the government has put stringent measures in place to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, noting that all drinking dens should be closed, since they pose a great danger by flouting distancing and other directives.
The commissioner said the government has also closed down 15 bars which were operating against the Ministry of Health directives and their licences revoked. “The bars will not get back their licences even after normalcy returns across the country,” he said.
